What is MADHOUSE?

MADHOUSE is a retro horror action RPG with a chibi aesthetic -- a punk, blood-soaked love letter to late 90s horror culture. Join Butch, an undead everyman on a quest for revenge in search of his wife's killer, exploring the dreary open world of Grayville -- a town crawling with monsters, maniacs, and twisted characters pulled straight from the darkest corners of horror fiction.

While Act 1 follows Butch as the primary protagonist, MADHOUSE features an ensemble cast of playable characters like Zero, a masked soldier with no memory of his past, and Ragman, a mutated creature seeking retribution against those responsible for his transformation -- each with their own distinct playstyle, story, and motivations. More characters will be woven into the unfolding narrative as the game grows.

Slash and blast your way through thematically distinct dungeons with unique mechanics, arm yourself with a variety of mechanically distinct weapons and special abilities, and interact with a cast of eccentric NPCs in a world that blends gritty punk horror with dark humor and genuine heart.

When the story gets too heavy, drag up to three friends into the chaos with MADHOUSE's four-player local versus mode -- a frantic competitive brawl that plays completely differently from the campaign. Playable online via Steam Remote Play Together.
